Motorola to announce 2 new Android smartphones at CES

January 2, 2010 by Marcel Bantle

Motorola invites to a press event on January 6 – a day before CES officially starts and a day after the Google Nexus One event. Analysts and rumor sites pretend to know more.

Trip Chowdhry from Global Equities Research cites sources indicating an Android phone with OLED display and physical keyboard. It may run “Google experiences” instead of Motorolas own user interface Motoblur. A second Android phone may also sport an OLED screen but get along without a physical keyboard and rely on a virtual keyboard only.

This seems to be supported by a vague rumor from a Chinese tech site which also presents an incomplete rendering. Mirage / Shadow are supposedly the names for new Motos. The specs sound record-breaking: HDMI port, 8 megapixel camera, 1080p video playback, yet to be only 9mm thick. Most unbelievable is a 4.3 inch display (800×484 pixel resolution) which other vendors would like to call a tablet. Motorola Mirage / Shadow is said to be launched in the first half of 2010.

We should know more on January 6 …
