The Finnish handset maker tries different routes. While staying “fully committed” to the Symbian OS, it will use Linux-based Maemo for “high performance mobile devices”. At the same time a Microsoft-Nokia alliance is forming to build a mobile version of Microsoft Office for Nokia’s smartphones.

The Inspiron Mini 12 is discontinued, one of few Atom-powered netbooks with a 12 inch display. The smaller Mini 9 – which was phased out some months ago – is coming back. The reasons behind Dells netbook downsizing are quite unclear.
The Finish handset maker is reversing its OS strategy, as Financial Times Deutschland reports. After supporting Symbian for over ten years it is going for Linux-based Maemo. Its first Maemo smartphone is to be expected within weeks.
Vaio products with touchscreens are coming with the launch of Windows 7 which is to be expected anytime soon. A Sony manager disclosed this and more during a recent interview.
The leading manufacturer of Windows Mobile phones plans a radical shift towards Android. According to industry sources the majority of HTC phones will be based on Android in 2010.
